  • ProVision Overview (½ day)

After completion of this 1/2 day e-learning course, the participants will have a general understanding of the basic concepts behind and structure of ProVision.

Specific outcomes include the ability to:
    • Articulate the benefits of using ProVision
    • Describe the basic ProVision structure
    • Read and understand a basic workflow model created in ProVision
    • Begin an assessment of your organization's maturity in business process or architectural modeling
    • Create a personal 'Next Steps' plan

  • Enterprise Architecture Modeling (3 days)

After completion of this three-day class, the student will be able to create, maintain and publish a series of models and object associations which are typical Enterprise Architecture products using OpenText ProVision to clearly recognize and explain the strengths and weaknesses of several popular EA frameworks, as well as construct a customized architectural framework for their organization. Additionally, students will begin to mine the Metastorm ProVision repositories for answers to typical EA questions.

  • Discrete Event Simulation (2 days)

After completion of this two-day class, the student will be able to set up, analyze and modify workflow model discrete event simulations using the OpenText ProVision discrete event simulator to quantifiably maximize process improvements. This class provides first-hand experience understanding business process component behavior using workflow model simulation techniques and building upon the concepts and techniques learned in the Business Architecture Foundation or Business Process Analysis course.

  • Advanced Discrete Event Simulation (1 day)

After completion of this one-day class, the student will be able to apply advanced techniques to more accurately and effectively simulate Workflow Models using the OpenText ProVision Discrete Event Simulator.

Specific outcomes include the ability to:
    • Articulate the simulation lifecycle
    • Determine the proper sample size for a simulation
    • Choose the correct amount of warm up time
    • Customize resource availability
    • Create correct simulation input
    • Establish accurate activity cost and time
    • Determine the need for simulation patterns
    • Select correct pattern from pattern library
    • Integrate patterns into existing models
    • Utilize event-based reporting

  • Business Transformation Management (1 day)

During the course of this one day class, provide an understanding of ProVisions capabilities with respect to the creation of materials related to the following topics:
    • Vision Creation
    • Environmental Analysis
    • Competitive Analysis
    • Strategic Planning
    • Performance On Key Performance Indicators
    • Capability Impact
    • Capability Strategic Gap Assessment
    • Business Architecture Alignment
    • Target high-impact Performance Gaps
    • Execute high-impact Improvement Projects
    • Developing Strategic Capabilities

  • Business Architecture Foundation (3 days)

Upon completion of this three-day class, you will be able to create, maintain and publish a set of models used to describe and analyze business processes and associated business architecture components using OpenText ProVision and Knowledge Exchange. Specifically, this class will provide you with a detailed understanding of ProVision's modeling environment with a focus on business architecture capabilities including integration, construction techniques and analysis capabilities related to BA models including BIM, Process Context, Process and Workflow.

  • Best Practice Lab using ProVision

The OpenText ProVision Best Practice Lab (BPL) provides specialized training for OpenText ProVision usage and is targeted towards a set of attendee-specified topics agreed upon prior to the lab. A primary emphasis of the BPL is for students to "learn by doing" under the guidance of OpenText training consultants. BPLs are short, focused training sessions often conducted online and provide great latitude for both the trainer and attendees to set the pace and direction of the course. Note: BPL sessions are not intended to substitute for classroom training. Rather, BPLs can extend on topics covered in classroom training and can focus on actual customer models.

In addition to the OpenText curriculum, we provide ProVision courses designed by the industry-respected consultant, Matthew Brown, one of the leading-lights in BPA since 1998.

  • 101 Business Process Modelling Course

This course requires no previous modelling experience but does require an open mind and the ability to adopt the 'correct' way of thinking. At the end of the course, the students will be able (with some initial consultancy support) to create their own BPA models in a multi-user environment.

  • 102 Enterprise Architecture Modelling Course

This course requires students to have previously attended the 101 Business Process Modelling Course. At the end of the course, the students will be able (with some initial consultancy support) to create their own EA models in a multi-user environment.

  • 103 Process Simulation Course

This course requires students to have previously attended the 101 Business Process Modelling Course. At the end of the course, the students will be able (with some initial consultancy support) to create their own simulation Workflow models using both Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) techniques.
